Friend,
Neil Lake makes great empanadas. His father was a chef, so Neil knows his way around a kitchen — even one small enough to fit into a truck. That’s why on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, he takes to the streets in his Smiley Pies truck and feeds the people of Las Vegas.
Monday through Thursday? That’s when this committed AFSCME Local 4041 member works as an HVAC technician at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Growing up, both his parents served as members of the culinary union in Las Vegas, so Neil understands what solidarity means.
Neil brings the same passion to his food, his work and his commitment to his AFSCME sisters and brothers. Watch a video about Neil and how he puts his passion into his food and his union!
We want to hear from you as well! Hit reply and tell us your food story. Got a great recipe you love to share with your union sisters and brothers? A favorite lunch spot? Tell us how your personal passion for food reflects your commitment to your community and your union!
I can’t wait to hear from you.
In solidarity,
Amy Hendrick
