Dear John,

Tell Congress to put people over profit!

Our climate is in a state of crisis. Some of our most iconic landscapes are at risk. And more than 1 million plant and animal species are on the brink of extinction.

Interior Secretary David Bernhardt is making things worse. He’s used his position to undermine the Endangered Species Act and gut protections for our wild places. As a former fossil fuel lobbyist, he’s surely taking these actions to help his Big Oil buddies like the Independent Petroleum Association of America.

Every day Bernhardt is in office, his conflicts of interest and abuses of power put our public lands, climate, and wildlife in danger. Now we need your help demanding Congress hold him accountable!

Take action now: Demand Congress hold Bernhardt accountable for putting Big Polluters over our public lands.

Bernhardt has been at the Department of the Interior for less than three years. But already, he’s blocked the release of research proving chlorpyrifos is pushing nearly 1,400 species closer to extinction. He’s trying to move the Bureau of Land Management out of Washington, DC and into a building it would share with Chevron. And since day 1 at DOI he’s pushed the interests of his past Big Oil clients like IPAA -- who represents companies like Shell, ConocoPhillips and Marathon Oil.

We will not stand idly by as this blatant conflict-of-interest and abuse of power imperils our public lands, climate, and wildlife.  And momentum against this corporate crony is building -- just last week protestors disrupted the IPAA annual meeting to stand against Big Oil’s unethical ties to Bernhardt and other corrupt members of this administration.

Now Congress must hold Bernhardt accountable for abusing his power at DOI to enrich Big Polluters. But our legislators will only act if they feel pressure from constituents like you!

Tell Congress to hold David Bernhardt accountable for putting profits over people and the environment!

Bernhardt’s willingness to abandon endangered wildlife to enrich Big Polluters makes him unfit to serve as Interior Secretary.

Congress could investigate whether Bernhardt violated the spirit or the letter of any ethics laws. And it could look into his past clients to see if they’ve abused their relationships with Bernhardt to influence policies promoting attacks on our public lands and wildlife.

Momentum against Bernhardt is building as more information comes out about this administration’s corrupt ties to corporate polluters and the abuse of power by high level officials. With your help, John, we can ensure Congress holds Bernhardt accountable for misusing his power. But we must act fast!

Help send 30,000 messages to Congress: Tell our legislators to hold Bernhardt accountable for endangering people and the planet!

Standing with you,
