[ [link removed] ]Welch for Vermont
Hello,
Every day, people here in Vermont and across the country are forced to
choose between paying a medical bill or paying for essentials. Parents put
food on the table before they refill their prescriptions, teenagers ration
their insulin for the month, people drive to the hospital for fear of
ambulance bills. I hear these stories every day as Vermont’s Congressman,
and I want to be very clear: Every American has a right to affordable
healthcare, and it’s due time we delivered.
Americans everywhere are facing tough decisions regarding health
insurance, prescription drug costs and difficulty paying medical bills.
Premiums continue to rise, surprise bills still catch people trying to
keep their costs low, and too many are forced to risk their health by
staying uninsured.
For the past 15 years, I’ve fought to deliver relief for communities being
affected by this. Medicare for All, lower prescription drug costs, and
providing resources to those disproportionately affected could mean
finally getting your teeth cleaned every six months — or affording your
insulin without worrying if you’ll have to take that money from your rent.

why I need to hear from you directly: what would affordable healthcare
mean to you and your family? Click here and let us know.
There are so many ways forward to ease the burden of the cost of care: we
can remove barriers to the development of low cost generic drugs, let
Medicare negotiate lower prices for prescriptions, , and pass Medicare for
All. If we all come together to demand better from Congress, we can build
the country we all deserve.

mean for you and your family.
Thanks for sharing your story,
Peter
