After I left the UN, I took up running. 

 

I played sports growing up, but I had never been an active runner. The idea of
committing to something without knowing if I’d be any good at it was, to be
honest, more than a little scary. 


But one of the most important things we can do in life is to push through the
fear.When I ran for the state legislature, when I ran for governor, when I came
to the United Nations—I always made sure I never got too comfortable.

So I laced up my shoes, put my music on (Joan Jett, of course) and put one
foot in front of the other. I worked hard and I pushed myself. 

Last December, I finished my first half-marathon—something I never thought I
could do two years ago.


Running a half-marathon was a huge challenge. So was running for state
legislature and for governor. But they were important races to run.

As we look at the next election, it can be daunting.

This year Republicans have a huge opportunity to take back the House, the
Senate, and win statewide races across the country. 

 

But just like running a half-marathon, it will take work. Some days will be
difficult. The Democrats will launch attacks against Republicans to try and
divide our party. Liberal billionaires will push millions of dollars into key
battleground states to try and prevent us from winning in November. 

 

This election year will not be easy. But it will be filled with races that we
must win.

 

When it comes to running a race, it’s also important to remember that you
can’t just wake up one day and magically expect to run 13.1 miles. You have to
build up stamina and strength step by step and mile by mile. You have to put in
work each day to make it to the finish line. 

 

That’s the same with this year’s election. We can’t just wake up on November 9
and expect to win. We have to put in the work each and every day to gear up for
victory.

That’s why Stand For America PAC isn’t waiting until the fall to hit the
ground running. My team started laying the groundwork for victory over a year
ago. We’ve trained, endorsed, advised, and financially supported dozens of
strong conservatives. We helped Glenn Youngkin and Jason Miyares cross the
finish line in Virginia and helped Jack Ciattarelli pull off a near-upset in
New Jersey.  

 

But our work is far from done. We must keep up the momentum that we gained
over the past year and continue to build our movement one person at a time.
