TAKING ACTION AGAINST INSURRECTIONISTS
Our Revolution activists “descended on several state capitals, calling for state-level government officials to act and ban those who worked to overturn the 2020 election from running again,” Independent reported, noting our efforts “could result in a massive legal battle.”
This week, as part of our 14.3 Campaign, we peacefully employed our right to protest against the unconstitutional candidacies of insurrectionists in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Ohio!
Our Revolution Maryland rallied for an investigation into State Delegate Dan Cox. “We were frightened and appalled by the actions of Cox surrounding the Jan. 6th insurrection,” Our Revolution MD Chair Chrissy Holt told Maryland Matters.
Our Revolution Pennsylvania protested the candidacies of US Rep. Scott Perry (PA-10) - the headline speaker at the Stop the Steal rally who, hours after the Capitol attack, led the floor fight against certifying the state’s votes - and State Sen. Doug Mastriano, who assisted Trump’s legal maneuvers in PA and is now vying for governor.
“We’ve decided, with the many insurrectionists running for re-election or higher office, that we have to bring this matter to the attention of decision-makers and call for them to be blocked,” Our Revolution National Coordinator Hal Ginsberg told PennLive.
“We elect our representatives to make a better government, a more perfect Union,” Hal said on CBS 21 News. “We often disagree with them, but there is a line, and that line comes when the elected representative or the president tries to reverse a democratic election.”
Our Revolution Florida rallied for an investigation of US Rep. Matt Gaetz (FL-1), one of Trump’s biggest enablers. And, Our Revolution Ohio called out Rep. Jim Jordan (OH-4), who refuses to testify before the January 6 Committee.
Our Revolution North Carolina members filed the historic legal challenge against Madison Cawthorn that kicked off this campaign. Now, we’re going after the others in rapid succession.
Next up: Colorado, Arizona, Georgia, and Texas! – and, of course, Trump himself, who must be barred from running for the White House in 2024.

Early voting is underway in Texas, and Our Revolution is hitting the streets and the phones to GOTV for our powerhouse slate of progressives!
We endorsed early and now our progressive champions are building momentum. This week, Bernie endorsed Greg Casar (TX-35) and Jessica Cisneros (TX-28), and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rallied with both candidates last weekend!
Early voting in Texas goes through Feb. 25th, and Election Day is March 1st!
We’re amassing a volunteer army to call nearly 50,000 potential voters around the Austin TX area, Our Revolution Political Director Aaron Chappell told Axios. “This is our vision. This is about building a bench,” Aaron said.

NINA TURNER ROUND 2!
Our Revolution Long Beach welcomed Nina Turner to an event Thursday night to strategize for her run for Congress, Round 2!
“The tide is turning, and you’re all part of turning that tide,” Nina told the crowd of organizers. “We are on a mission. We’re being tested to do what is necessary in our time. Thirty years from now when they write our story, they’ll say we defied the odds.”
We almost beat Big Money and the rightwing in last summer’s special election for OH-11. Now, in the 2022 midterms, progressives have strength in numbers!
Diane Morgan, leader of Our Revolution Ohio, told The Nation progressives can’t afford complacency against activated Republicans and corporate Dems. “We’re finding that Republicans in the district were coming out to support Shontel, to defeat Nina,” she said.
Since then, Nina and Our Revolution have grown grassroots power in Ohio, helping to elect progressive mayors and city council members across Greater Cleveland. We’re changing the political landscape.
Our Revolution Ohio organizer Kiki Kranz told The Nation “it’s frustrating to have fought such a good fight for the right candidate and be defeated” – but we’re scaling up and kicking into high gear! It’s a whole new race, and we can win this.

ROASTING CUELLAR IN SAN ANTONIO
On Friday, Our Revolution Texas, the Worker Power Coalition, and major Texas unions, labor, and progressive groups gathered in San Antonio make noise for the Protecting the Right to Organize Act and to deride its number one opponent in the U.S. House, Rep. Henry Cuellar.
“The PRO Act is a once-in-a-generation piece of legislation that would transform the rules of our economy,” Geronimo Guerra, CWA Local 6143 president, told the crowd. “It would protect workers and enact actual penalties on corporations when they retaliate against workers who speak out.”
Guerra wasn’t alone in directing the ire of labor organizers at US Rep. Henry Cuellar — the only House Democrat to vote against the PRO Act. Together, we’re working to elect Jessica Cisneros to replace him in Texas’ 28th District!
With unions under attack, Biden and Congress must act to restore the power of workers to exercise their right to organize and bargain collectively against corporate titans.

NO MORE WARS!
Our Revolution joined more than 100 allied organizations to call on President Biden to end the U.S. role in escalating extremely dangerous tensions with Russia over Ukraine, Common Dreams reports.
“It is gravely irresponsible for the president to participate in brinkmanship between two nations that possess 90 percent of the world’s nuclear weapons,” our statement reads.
We cannot afford to spend trillions wreaking death and havoc around the world to enrich war profiteers. We must invest in improving the lives of people at home and our impact on the world at large.

BIDEN NEEDS PRO-LABOR SCOTUS WIN
Our Revolution and labor groups across the country are urging President Biden against appointing an anti-labor jurist to fill the Supreme Court vacancy.
“Our Revolution sees her potential nomination as very problematic,” AP News reports. “Executive director Joseph Geevarghese called it ‘highly concerning’ that Clyburn and others were pushing for Michelle Childs, given Biden’s pro-union stance.”
Biden promised to be “the most pro-union president in history” and must rebuff the push for Childs by US Rep. Jim Clyburn and Republican Sen. Lindsay Graham.
“If Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is vouching for Michelle Childs, it should give Democrats pause,” Joseph told ABC News this week. “Her record shows that she wins for employers.” In 23 of 25 employment cases — Childs defended an employer accused of alleged discrimination based on race or sex.
“If we have any doubt about where the nominee stands on labor rights or the power of corporations versus labor in our economy right now, we should not put them forward — we should actively oppose them,” Joseph said.
“Workers don’t need another anti-labor justice actively opposing the very labor protections this administration is working to uphold and expand,” he told the AP. “It would be nonsensical to nominate a union-busting justice to the nation’s highest court.”
The Biden Administration needs the win of a pro-labor SCOTUS pick. Joseph said other candidates on Biden’s shortlist include U.S. Appeals Court Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson and California Supreme Court Justice Leondra Kruger.
