Josh Stein for Attorney General

Here are three quick things you should know about North Carolina’s ongoing redistricting process:

  1. Last month, Josh argued to the North Carolina Supreme Court that partisan gerrymandering violates our constitutional right to vote. The Court agreed and clarified that the North Carolina Constitution prohibits partisan gerrymandering. It then instructed the GOP-controlled legislature to draw new maps.

  2. Thursday, Republicans in Raleigh passed another round of maps through the legislature for the court to review.

  3. It’s crucial that our maps give fair representation to the people of North Carolina. North Carolina Republicans have proven time and again that they will try to get away with blatant partisan gerrymandering, which harms our democracy. When they deprive people of their fundamental constitutional rights, we must fight back.

It’s simple: Every single North Carolina voter deserves to have their voice heard in our elections. That means that voters should pick their representatives — not the other way around.
