Yesterday’s bombshell testimony has Donald Trump staring impeachment in the face.

Dear Friend,

Yesterday's bombshell testimony has Donald Trump staring impeachment in the face.

Trump's response? He's declared war on the White House whistleblower in an attempt to intimidate and discredit the courageous person who uncovered his massive abuses of power.

Trump is calling the whistleblower a "spy" and described them as "treasonous," openly inciting violence against them.1 There's even a $50,000 reward to anyone who reveals their identity.2

We're launching an emergency effort to defend the White House whistleblower and ensure that Trump is held accountable. Will you donate?

Federal law protects whistleblowers from retaliation—but shockingly, those laws don't apply to the president.3 That means that Trump has a lot of leeway to threaten, intimidate, and coerce anyone who might offer evidence of impeachable offenses.

That's why it's so important for Congress to step in to protect the White House whistleblower—and there's a lot they can do right now, including strengthening existing law to prevent further retaliation and close loopholes and clarify reporting rules.4

This isn't just about impeachment. It's about making sure the whistleblower is protected from violence. The targets of Trump's Twitter attacks have repeatedly received death threats, and one of his supporters was convicted of mailing pipe bombs to political opponents Trump had railed against.5

From Edward Snowden to Chelsea Manning to Reality Winner, Demand Progress has stood with whistleblowers for years. Now the stakes are even higher—with impeachment hanging in the balance. We've launched a big campaign to protect the White House whistleblower and to demand that Congress take action to strengthen protections. But we need your help.

Will you donate to stand up for whistleblowers and make sure that Trump is held accountable?

Thanks for standing with us.
