Our 2017 documentary Liberated: The New Sexual Revolution examined the toxic reality of hookup culture and the normalization of sexual violation among young adults.
That film features Kimmy, a young woman who vulnerably reflects on her spring break experiences, and Shay, a young man who embraces hookup culture and seeks out sexual encounters with as many girls as possible.
Sometime after Liberated was shot, Shay experienced a radical personal transformation, sharing, “In my preoccupation with proving myself to my male peers, I was totally oblivious to the fact that I was behaving like an unbridled sexual predator."
The new four-part miniseries Liberated: After Spring Break, follows Kimmy and Shay as they reflect on the toxicity of hookup culture and share their stories with college students across America and the United Kingdom.
Through introspection and candid conversation, this series answers many of the tough questions raised by the first film, offering hope in the midst of today's cultural climate of sexual violation.
The series drops February 24 on our Magic Lantern Pictures YouTube channel. Subscribe to our channel to stay in the loop and click below to watch the trailer!
