Our democracy is sacred, and it's our responsibility to protect it. But the past years have shown us that our democracy is not guaranteed. That's why I'm fighting to preserve it every day in Congress.
Former President Trump tried to undermine our democracy at every turn, and far too many of his colleagues looked the other way even when Trump's actions threatened our democracy. Now, voting rights are under attack like never before, and our elections are still flooded with cash from dark money groups.

That's why I was proud to vote to pass the Protecting Our Democracy Act in the House to take measurable steps to restore checks and balances to our government. And it's why I voted for the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act to strengthen the voice of the American people in our democracy and end the influence of big money in our elections.
