I go to work every day to make sure our government is working for all Americans, because I know firsthand what it’s like when it doesn’t.

When I was a child, I had a severe illness that put me in the hospital for three months. And even though I fully recovered, my grandparents who raised me were unable to get me health insurance at any price, just because I had a pre-existing condition.

Our health care system has improved since then, but I believe there is much more we need to do as a nation to help American families get access to affordable care and undo the damage Donald Trump left in his path.

In an effort to sabotage the Affordable Care Act, Trump expanded junk insurance plans during his time in the White House — plans that can deny coverage to folks with pre-existing conditions and aren’t required to cover essential services like maternity care, prescription drugs, and emergency room care.

So this week, I led a group of Senators in urging the Biden administration to rein in these junk plans to ensure all Americans have access to quality, affordable health care.

I’ll never back down when it comes to protecting and expanding affordable care. If you’re with me, add your name to my petition calling on the administration to undo the damage caused by Donald Trump and take action to rein in junk health insurance plans. [[link removed]]
