AIPAC Update
The best way to understand Israel is to experience Israel.
This weekend, more than 40 members of Congress will arrive in Israel for week-long Educational Seminars in Israel with AIEF, the charitable organization affiliated with AIPAC.
These trips provide lawmakers with an unparalleled education, and allow them to forge deep personal connections to the Jewish state. They also provide elected officials with powerful opportunities to examine the challenges facing Israel, allowing them to make informed U.S. foreign policy decisions.
Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA) joins AIPAC to discuss why she supports a strong U.S.-Israel relationship, the growing threats facing Israel, and the importance of U.S.-Israel missile defense cooperation.
Rep. Luria represents Virginia’s Second Congressional District. Prior to her election in 2018, Rep. Luria served two decades in the Navy, retiring at the rank of Commander. Vice Chair of the House Armed Services Committee and a member the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, Rep. Luria was one of the first women in the Navy’s nuclear power program and among the first women to serve the entirety of her career in combatant ships.

The crisis in Ukraine is drawing the entire world's attention, and Israel is no exception. In this week's episode, Tel Aviv-based journalist and Israel Policy Forum Policy Advisor Neri Zilber hosts Washington Institute Senior Fellow Anna Borshchevskaya, author of Putin's War in Syria: Russian Foreign Policy and the Price of America's Absence. Anna and Neri contextualize the escalating standoff between Russia and the West and assess how it impacts Israel, which must walk a tightrope in order to maintain good relations with both its U.S. ally and an increasingly Middle East-focused Russia—all while hoping that world attention remains on the Iranian threat.
The mission of AIPAC is to encourage and persuade the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.
