Hi there,

This is Manny with the Student PIRG's New Voters Project.

I wanted to invite you to a panel hosted by New Voters Project student leaders to learn best practices to enhance your campus action plans for the 2022 election.

You're Invited: Engaging Youth in the 2022 Election - Student Relational Organizing 101!

RSVP here ([link removed])

We are excited to be joined by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE), and others to share lessons we have learned over the last couple of elections to help create student centered action plans that focus on building student leadership and promoting peer-to-peer engagement for 2022 and years to come.

Some topics include:
* How to drive student peer-to-peer voter registration and get-out-the-vote drives
* How to use campus, statewide, and athletic conference challenges to motivate student voters

Speakers will include:
* Johanna Hussain, New Voters Project Campaign Coordinator at UW-Madison
* Andres Cubillos, New Voters Project Campaign Coordinator at Florida State University
* Ryan Drysdale, Associate Director, ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge
* Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE), Tisch College at Tufts University

When: Monday, March 7th, 2022, 6-7pm Eastern

Where: Zoom (RSVP ([link removed]) to receive the link)

Why:

Research has shown that young people vote when they hear about it from another person - a friend, a family member, or another student. These real conversations between students on campus have evolved over the years from conversations in a dorm room or at an involvement table, to a text message or DM on social media.

While these new forms of communications have emerged, the principle is still true. Peer-to-peer communication drives people to vote.

2020 election data from CIRCLE ([link removed]) shows that the most common way young voters heard about the election was not from digital outreach and social media, but from friends, family, and their peers. Nearly two-thirds of youth (ages 18-24) talked to friends about politics, and almost half tried to convince their peers to vote.
