Friend, As we celebrate Black History Month and honor the leaders who helped shape the gun violence prevention movement like Erica Ford and Devone Boggan, we remain grateful for the many Black-led organizations and frontline gun violence workers putting our communities first. As we reflect on past Black History makers who didn’t get to reach their full potential, we are reminded that gun violence has taken the lives of leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Medgar Evers, and countless others. At Community Justice we affirm that our people deserve to feel safe and have a long, happy life without the fear of violence. By centering the voices of those closest to the issue and advocating for community-led gun violence prevention, we have made powerful impacts felt across the nation. |
