Folks — When I was building my business from scratch here in Nevada, I quickly learned the importance of focus and discipline. Without those, my business — any enterprise — would have been all over the place, unable to compete successfully. And, because Nevada is the state of opportunity, I always looked for opportunities to grow my business, support my team, and give back to our community. During my term as governor, those lessons have served me well. Our state endured a series of unprecedented crises over the past two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The critics and the nay-sayers said our state economy could not recover. Our detractors declared Nevada could never bounce back from the impact of the pandemic. Team, we’re proving the critics wrong, and I’m damn proud of what we’ve accomplished so far. By remaining focused and disciplined, we overcame the reckless handling of the response to COVID-19 by Republicans in Washington, D.C. We ensured folks had ample access to the vaccine and personal protection equipment. Working closely with workers, labor unions, and businesses during this pivotal moment, we’ve focused on rebuilding our economy. We’ve moved quickly to support working families and strengthen communities in every part of Nevada. Thanks to the leadership of our Democratic congressional delegation in Washington, D.C., new federal dollars are helping put more Nevadans back to work as we take on overdue infrastructure projects. We’re making significant progress — but there’s more to do. But here’s what I also know, folks: If our extremist GOP opponents get their way, they’ll undo everything we’re accomplishing. All the progress we’re making will end if we don’t keep Nevada blue this November. We will lose the focus and discipline we’ve brought to the monumental task of bringing Nevada back from the precipice.
