But there remain big challenges in our election system that we must address for voters to have a real choice in leadership. Voters deserve a real choice in who represents them. That’s why the first piece of legislation I’ll introduce in the U.S. Senate will change the business model of politics and make government more responsive to Wisconsinites. While campaign finance reform is a key component of this plan, we must also ensure everyone has equal and safe access to the ballot by protecting and expanding voting rights.

This may sound idealistic, but we’ve already been doing it. My organization, the Millennial Action Project, helped lead Vote Safe Wisconsin, the only successful bipartisan effort nationwide to expand access to the ballot during the earliest moments of the pandemic in 2020. We can build on the success we had in Wisconsin and beyond to achieve stronger protections and access to voting nationwide.
