Hi John,
We kicked off Black History Month with an ask to donate directly to Black young progressives we've endorsed. Well, that list has grown
-- from 14 candidates to 45 running this year!
Each and every one of these Black candidates is running for change and for a better tomorrow.
Like North Carolina Clerk of Superior Court candidate Aminah Thompson, who plans on creating a community-based law library and resource center for her district. Or like Texas State Board of Education candidate Staci Childs, who is running to make sure that every kid in her district is welcomed and supported, whatever their background or needs.
This is how progress happens. We build up local candidates who will fight for real changes, all over the country. Split a
$5
donation between Run for Something and 45 Black young progressives running this year to make a difference.
Some of these candidates are going to make history as the first Black person to represent their district, serve on their county board, be the district attorney, or whatever office they are running for!
It is
astonishing that in 2022 we're still electing the first Black officials in so many areas. Old white boys' clubs have been keeping Black candidates, young candidates, queer candidates, and anyone else who isn't just like them out for years. They've been hiding behind words like "electability" instead of saying the quiet part out loud -- they don't want to give up power. Bad news for them: We don't care what they think.
We fight for history-makers and diverse young progressives by supporting them ourselves.
Early donations make it easy for us to call out B.S. "electability" arguments and prove that Black young candidates can win and can make a difference.

Let's do this,
