Hi there John,

My name is Emma, and I am proud to be an organizer and Fellow for 350
Action along with 12 other amazing and diverse young people from across
the country. As a group, we are laser-focused on organizing together to
elect true climate champions.

Here on the ground in New Hampshire, we go to two or three candidate
events a week armed with tough questions about climate. Just last month, I
went to a candidate’s “climate” event and was shocked to find that during
the speech, climate wasn’t mentioned once. If I wasn’t there to ask
directly about coal mining in my state, the crisis would have been
completely ignored.

[ [link removed] ]That is why I’m asking you today to make a donation to 350 Action — can
you help elect climate champions in 2020?

We know that the climate crisis is having devastating impacts on our
communities right now. We know massive fires and tragic floods are
human-caused and there’s very little time to change course. Unfortunately,
this urgency just isn’t being reflected in the election cycle.

Me at a non-violent direct action at Merrimack Station, the last major
coal plant in New England.

During the first debate, the majority of presidential hopefuls
acknowledged that climate change is the greatest threat to this country.
Since then, only a few consistently and voluntarily mention the climate
crisis. This is unacceptable.

this election.

If 350 Action isn’t at these events then climate isn’t being pushed on a
national scale. The thing I love about working for 350 Action is that I
get to push the envelope. I get to push the presidential candidates. And I
get to work in coalitions with groups planning massive non-violent direct
actions. Most importantly, I get to put time into supporting local
campaigns for my community.

[ [link removed] ]Please help continue to empower young organizers like me to push the
envelope on climate. Now is the time we need it the most.

With thanks,
Emma Shapiro-Weiss
