Â
Allies,
In 2021, the U.S. House of Representatives took a historic vote and
passed the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA), marking the first
time in history that the House has ever passed stand-alone legislation
specifically designed to protect the right to abortion access
nationwide.
Yesterday, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Schumer took the first
procedural step to getting a vote on WHPA. This vital legislation will
be brought to a vote on February 28 and it's time to act to ensure
this vital legislation becomes a reality.
Since September 1, 2021, the right to abortion has been meaningless in
the state of Texas, and the U.S. Supreme Court is currently
considering a case that could gut the right to abortion nationwide.
The Senate must vote to protect abortion rights and access in every
state.
The people hurt most by both the Texas abortion ban and all abortion
restrictions are those who already face barriers to accessing health
care-particularly Black, Indigenous and People of Color, women,
and those working to make ends meet. In an equitable and just society,
all health care, including abortion, is accessible for
everyone-not just those in certain states or those with the
means to travel.
Defend reproductive rights for all.
