Republicans in North Carolina and across the country are using their legislative majorities to gerrymander their way into holding power for the next decade — and they’ve just passed another round of ultra-partisan congressional and legislative maps through the legislature.

Twice in the last ten years, the NC GOP’s ultra-partisan maps have been thrown out by the courts. They clearly didn’t learn their lesson.

Republicans have proven they’ll do anything they can get away with to ensure that some votes count more than others and Democratic candidates won’t stand a chance.

The GOP knows they can’t actually win on the issues: Their extreme, right-wing agenda of rolling back rights and holding onto political power at any cost is completely at odds with what most of us really want from our leaders.

John, as Governor, one of the most important things to me is ensuring that the voices of North Carolinians are heard in our electoral process. That’s why I’m advocating for a Nonpartisan Redistricting Commission to draw fair legislative maps in the future.

But until that Commission becomes a reality, I remain committed to supporting Democrats up and down the ballot who need our help in the face of Republican gerrymandering tactics. We simply can’t allow the GOP to gain disproportionate power through partisan tactics.
