John —
Britney Spears posted about me on Instagram yesterday. Yes, you read that right.
I am a longtime fan of Britney’s, and I admire her strength and resolve as she lived through, fought against, and freed herself from her thirteen year long conservatorship. Under the conservatorship, Britney was forced to work against her will and denied basic freedoms.
You might say Britney’s journey through the legal system has been on my Radar for quite some time. Because like Britney, I’m known for standing up to bullies
So, Rep. Charlie Christ and I sent a letter to Britney a few months back congratulating her on her legal victory and inviting her to testify in front of Congress about conservatorships.
Although Congress can be a Circus, you can bet I’ll keep fighting for justice Til the World Ends. As Congress reconsiders the role of conservatorship laws in our legal system, I’m on a mission to set the record straight — just like Britney.
These conservatorship laws are Toxic, team, but Britney and I are taking a stand. It’s frankly Criminal that it took thirteen years to #FreeBritney, but I’m grateful that her story has shed light on a predatory and unjust system.
If you don’t Hold It Against Me that fighting for victims rights is My Prerogative, I hope you’ll chip in to support my efforts to stand with victims of conservatorships across America.
And if the GOP wants A Piece of Me by standing in our way, they’ll have to be ready for a Showdown because I know this team has my back. And when it comes to fighting for victims of conservatorships and other predatory legal arrangements, we’re Stronger together. Join us. >>
Thanks for your support,
Eric
