Dear Friend,

If we are going to compete with China in the 21st century, our infrastructure needs to keep up. That starts with making electric vehicles more convenient and accessible for North Texas families. I am proud to announce that as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that I recently helped pass, Texas will receive over $60 million this year in funding for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations along our roads and highways. This is more than any other state and these funds will build a reliable network of charging stations across Texas –giving Texas drivers cleaner, less expensive options– and create good-paying jobs.

The United States’ network of 100,000 EV chargers is currently insufficient to service the rapidly growing number of EV owners — and also struggles with inconsistent plug types, payment options and data availability. This is a huge step toward positioning Texas and our nation to lead the world on electric vehicles. With new charging stations, Texans will have more options to charge their vehicles. I look forward to working with local and state leaders to put this money to work, and to working with President Biden to expand the U.S. network to 500,000 chargers and grow electric vehicle sales to 50 percent of the automobile market by 2030.

As part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Texas is also set to receive over $61 million in funding for transit agencies like DART, more than $107 million to repair Texas’ bridges, and more than $80 million in funding headed to DFW Airport and Love Field Airport.

I am so proud to have been a part of this essential investment in Texas’ infrastructure. As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I will continue to work with both parties to deliver real results for North Texas and to create opportunities for our country to compete in the 21st century.

Sincerely,
