[1]Cori Bush
John, ever since
Cori was elected to office, she has been leading the call for the
Democratic party to finally pass meaningful police reform that makes
divestments from our police departments and investments in our
communities.
Earlier this week, the Democratic establishment responded to Cori’s
message: "With all due respect in the world for Cori Bush, that's not the
position of the Democratic Party."
With all due respect, is protecting Black lives not a position of the
Democratic party?
Michael Brown, Jr. was killed by police. Breonna Taylor was killed by
police. George Floyd was killed by police. And there are countless more
Black lives that the police have taken that don’t make national headlines.
Political movements like those working to save Black lives are demanding
real change. Defunding the police is a call for divesting from the
criminalization of our communities and investing instead in the social
services that actually keep our communities safe.
This is what we’ve been organizing for since Ferguson in 2014. It’s why
Cori ran for Congress — to stand with community, to lead the tough but
necessary work, to protect our very lives.
We won on November 3 by advocating for Black lives, but we need the
resources to continue building our grassroots movement. [ [link removed] ]Can you make a
contribution right now of whatever you can afford to keep up that work on
the ground?

Cori has co-organized and co-led hundreds of protests in Ferguson in
defense of Black lives. She understands firsthand the pain of police
violence — what it’s like to be brutalized just for saying your life
matters — and the urgent need to keep our community members safe.
This stance is why the people of St. Louis voted for Cori and helped
topple a 20 year incumbent. Our movement for racial justice is the very
reason why we were able to deliver the White House and Congress in 2020.
The Democratic establishment says that our movement to defund the police
is dead — but we know that’s far from the truth.
Together, we won a historic election — but we have to continue working
every single day to protect Black lives. We won’t stop until we get
justice.
[ [link removed] ]It’s urgent we show a wave of grassroots support for our movement:
Will you make a $5 donation today to fund our organizing
work in defense of Black lives?
In solidarity,
Team Cori
