News on our upcoming conference

Our autumn conference “UNITED Without Hate: Building partnerships towards a hate-free society” is right around the corner! It will take place next week near Bratislava, Slovakia, on November 17-22. Participants will work on hate speech, discussing its definitions, challenges, and exploring good practices to tackle this societal problem. They will dive into topics such as victim perspectives, intersectionality, counternarratives, fake news, how to use art as a tool, and many more. As usual there will be many informal activities too, like a networking evening, movie screening, political cafés, a visit to the city, and a great intercultural party. Participants will also have the opportunity to get to know and contribute to UNITED’s future campaigns, and the current Campaign Preparatory Group will hand over its mandate to the 2020 team!

We hope that this conference will bring inspiration and new ideas to the participating organizations and strengthen their networks, maybe bringing some fruitful collaborations! If you do not attend, do follow our social media for pictures and updates during the conference, and stay tuned for a report on the conference’s outcomes!

News on the EliminHATE Campaign

UNITED’s campaign International Day Against Fascism and Antisemitism will be a year-long campaign from now on, rather than focusing on the 9th of November. Check out the campaign’s website where, over the next month, you will find suggestions for anti-fascist activities, books and movies. Under the slogan #EliminHATE, this year’s campaign will focus on the question: What is hate today?

Since every community in Europe has its own historical experience and understanding of fascism, please help us create our common Anti-Fascist Calendar, an overview of dates of anti-fascist celebration and commemoration throughout Europe. Fill in this form based on what you know about the traditions in your country and/or the activities in your organization.

Now and at any time of the year, let us know at [email protected] which activities you plan around anti-fascism, and we will share!

UNITED is a network that we all create together, and the input and expertise of your organization is highly valued. We look forward to your contributions!
