Growing up in Queens as a little girl from an immigrant family, I came from a family of firsts.

My parents were the first in our family to immigrate to the United States.

My father became the first Asian American to serve in the New York State Assembly.

Now, I’m the first and only Asian American Member of Congress from New York.

Me and my family.

John, I’m proud to be an Asian American.

I’m proud that ASPIRE has chosen me to lead our mission.

But the truth is:

Anti-Asian hate crimes increased by a devastating 339% last year alone.

My heart aches for the people behind that statistic, their families, and their communities.

As the Chairwoman of ASPIRE, it’s my job to lead the charge to elect even more AAPI candidates, support candidates who will fight for our AAPI community, and create a Congress that looks more like the people it represents.

This is something my family could have never dreamed of. And I will stop at nothing to make my family and our community proud of the trust they have put in me. So I’m personally asking -- Will you chip in $12 before midnight and help fund ASPIRE’s mission to elect the most diverse Congress in history this year?
