<[link removed]> ConservAmerica Welcomes Congressman David McKinley as Newest Member of the Congressional Roosevelt Conservation Caucus WASHINGTON, DC – ConservAmerica is pleased to welcome Congressman David B. McKinley of West Virginia to the bicameral Roosevelt Conservation Caucus (RCC). <[link removed]> “As an engineer by trade, Congressman McKinley understands what it takes to build public and private buildings in a more energy-efficient way. As a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, he’s been instrumental in proposing conservative and responsible policies to reduce emissions and promote clean energy,” ConservAmerica President Jeff Kupfer said. “Congressman McKinley understands how to balance the needs of his West Virginia constituents and America’s energy needs with the challenges of reducing environmental impact, and we are pleased that he will bring his expertise and experience to the Roosevelt Conservation Caucus.” Rep. McKinley of West Virginia’s 1st District is a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. As the Vice Chairman of the Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee, he has led efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by the coal industry, promoted a balanced approach to regulation, and improved energy efficiency. In recent months, he has championed bipartisan legislation to promote carbon capture technology, remediate orphaned oil and natural gas wells, and support clean energy technology innovation. “Advocating for common-sense policies aimed at conserving our natural places for future generations is a conservative position,” Rep. McKinley said. “The radical environmentalists would have you believe their extreme policies are the only way – there is nothing further from the truth. In West Virginia, hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation are part of our culture. Joining the Roosevelt Conservation Caucus is important to ensure we can find practical solutions to make our environment cleaner and preserve its natural beauty.” The RCC is committed to advancing sensible policies grounded in conservative, market-based principles to the nation’s environmental, conservation, and clean energy challenges. Congressmen Brian Mast of Florida’s 18th District and Buddy Carter of Georgia’s 1st District serve as House co-chairs of the caucus. Congressman Fred Upton of Michigan’s 6th District serves as the House vice-chair. “Congressman David McKinley’s knowledge and experience representing Appalachia bring an important perspective and voice to the Roosevelt Conservation Caucus,” Rep. Mast said. “Together, we will continue to fight for common-sense, conservative solutions to the environmental challenges facing our nation.” “Congressman David McKinley has been a friend and colleague for several years now and is a perfect addition to the Roosevelt Conservation Caucus,” added Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter. “Ranking Member McKinley has championed conservation efforts for Republicans through his leadership on the Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee of Energy and Commerce, and I am eager for him to continue his important work through the RCC.” The RCC leadership team also includes Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and John Thune of South Dakota, who serve as Senate co-chairs, and Senators Rob Portman of Ohio and Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, who serve as the Senate vice-chairs. The RCC pursues right-of-center solutions based on open markets and competition to improve wildlife protection, ensure Americans have access to clean air and water and support the responsible transition to a lower-carbon energy future. Members of the caucus have been pivotal in shaping legislation to protect and enhance our environment for future generations. The caucus looks forward to building on the momentum from last year that resulted in the passage of the Great American Outdoors Act, The Energy Act of 2020, and Save Our Seas 2.0.
