I told them that Maricopa County is headed in the direction of terribly-governed liberal megacounties like Los Angeles and Cook County. It is already too big, too powerful, and too inefficient. In 25 years it will be a monster with more than 75% of the state’s population.
HB 2787 would break Maricopa County into four counties: west, central, northeast and southeast. Arizona would then have 18 counties, none of which could dominate the state. The residents of the new counties would have more responsive government. The rural areas of the state would have a bigger voice.
I appreciate the House Government and Elections Committee hearing what I had to say, and I appreciate that Rep. Jake Hoffman introduced this bill.
If you agree with me that Maricopa should be broken up so we don't have another LA here in Arizona, follow me on Facebook and learn more about my campaign.
Thank you,
Steve
