Wolverine Research Underway in Glacier

Did you know wolverine research is underway right here in Glacier National Park? Little is known about this iconic species of Glacier National Park, who typically occupy remote stretches and high elevation habitats.

Your generous donations to the Glacier Conservancy and additional support from the National Park Foundation are supporting a continuing study on Glacier’s wolverines, uncovering more about this rare and mysterious mammal. Keep reading to learn about how your support is giving park managers the tools they need to consistently monitor Glacier’s wolverine population and keep it protected across the region.

New License Plate Coming to Motor Vehicle Offices Soon


The new Glacier license plate recently went into production on January 31 and will take about four weeks to be delivered. It will be available at Montana County Treasurer Motor Vehicle Offices around March 1, 2022. Find your county office here. The exact date will vary depending on when your County Treasurer Motor Vehicle Office orders the new plates. If you already have the Glacier plate and renew your registration online, the new plate will be mailed to you around March 1, 2022.

Vehicle Reservations for Glacier Open

Glacier National Park recently announced that vehicle reservations, formerly known as “tickets,” required to access Going-to-the-Sun Road and the North Fork area via the Polebridge Entrance Station from May 27 to September 11, 2022 will become available on Recreation.gov starting March 2 at 8am MST/10am EST. Other areas of the park can be accessed without a reservation. Please visit the park's website for the latest information regarding this year's plan.
