Republicans in the Kansas Legislature have once again shown their lack of humanity by removing a portion of Senate Bill 387 that would have required psychologists to complete additional diversity, equity and inclusion trainings, which would benefit Kansans' mental health services.

 
Republican Sen. Mike Thompson introduced an amendment removing the provision on Friday. "I don't feel like this is an appropriate path and we shouldn't give credit for that sort of thing," Thompson said. "I think they should stick to their lane. And diversity, equity and inclusion I don't believe is helpful at all in this situation." 
 
The Republican-led committee passed the bill after removing these critical provisions for Kansans' mental health. Why don't Republican lawmakers want doctors to be properly trained?
