NBC News recently reported on Cheri’s historic run for U.S. Senate — highlighting our campaign as one of the ones best positioned to win this seat and increase representation for Black women in statewide offices.

NBC News: Black women look to make historic gains in 2022 midterm elections

Cheri knows that representation matters. It matters — for policy outcomes and our children — that the voices and perspectives within our government reflect the diversity of our nation.

But NBC reported that obstacles still exist. And Cheri knows that firsthand. Here’s what she said when they asked about it.

That’s why Cheri is so grateful for this grassroots team. Thanks to the outpouring of support, we’ve been able to prove the naysayers wrong.

But if we’re going to send Cheri to the U.S. Senate and make history, we cannot slow down now. If each of us does our part, NBC says “there’s hope 2022 could be a historic year, despite the political headwinds that Democrats face.”
