Join the 1,400 people who want a safe shelter in Hobart

John,

On Monday we launched our petition to fund a safe shelter for the homeless in Hobart.

Over the last three days, 1,400 people have signed asking the State and Federal Governments to work out a funding solution.

Those 1,400 legends propelled this issue into the media.

We need to build on this momentum.

I've set the goal of getting to 2,000 signatures by tomorrow night. Will you stand by my side and take 30 seconds to add your name to the petition?

I've spoken to the experts. We can have a shelter up and running before Christmas. There's a project proposal on the table. All that's needed is a cheque.

What's the rush?

There are up to 200 people sleeping on the streets of Hobart every night. In other cities, good people working together have set up “safe shelters” for those sleeping rough.

They offer people a place off the streets for a night, where they can safely store their possessions, watch a movie, play a board game, or just rest, with a warm blanket, with food in the belly, with a roof over their heads.

There is no safe shelter in Hobart. The way I see it, everyone deserves a roof over their head. Especially at Christmas.

If you agree, please lend me your support.

Jacqui
