We’ve been talking about impeaching this lawless president ever since he took office. On a nearly daily basis, we’ve witnessed his corrupt abuse of power—all in plain sight. Finally, a brave whistleblower has come forward.

The dominoes are starting to fall.

This represents why elections are so critical. If Democrats had not taken control of the House of Representatives last year, we wouldn’t be having these public hearings today.

These proceedings are, without a doubt, important. At the very least, they show that no matter what, no one's above the law—not even this president. Everyday people can have faith that their government might actually protect their interests and hold the powerful accountable. It’s an opportunity we must seize, but it’s only the tip of the iceberg.

What we're trying to accomplish here at BNC isn't just promoting impeachment. It isn't just sourcing and supporting grassroots candidates. It's about a fundamental change that shifts the balance of power from the corrupt elite to the everyday people.

At Brand New Congress, we know the presidential election is important, but our focus is on electing everyday people who are not owned by any corporate interests. We want to ensure the executive branch is truly equal to the other branches, as our founders intended.

We don’t know how this will end, but the public inquiry is a step in the right direction. What we do know is that maintaining a majority in the House and taking control of the Senate is Priority #1 in 2020.

Please support our work to lock in a progressive caucus in Congress and secure a majority in the Senate. We must ensure that regardless of who’s in the Oval Office, their power will be checked.
