Hi friend, My name is Farah Ahmad, and I’m Mercy Corps’ Food Security and Policy Fellow. I’m reaching out because we have a unique opportunity to help make a massive impact on global hunger. Right now, Congress is considering H.Res.922, a resolution that would condemn the use of hunger as a weapon of war. This bipartisan bill could impact 100 million people living in places where conflict is the main driver of food crises. Please, take a quick moment to ask your Representative to support H.Res.922 and the children, women, and men facing conflict-induced hunger around the world ▸
After his farm was devastated by the ongoing conflict in Nigeria, Ibrahim received supplies and training on better farming techniques from Mercy Corps.
In response, Mercy Corps has implemented agricultural support programs — which include training, grants, and loan programs — to help farmers recover their operations. With this support, farmers are able to make an income, improve their livelihoods, and feed their families and communities. Last year, Mercy Corps’ agriculture and nutrition programs reached more than 12 million people around the world. We’re committed to working with communities to develop smart solutions to the underlying causes of hunger. And we’re committed to advocating for policies like H.Res.922 — helping eradicate hunger for those most at risk, and demanding accountability from those that willfully impede access to food. The more of us who take action, the louder our voices and the larger our influence. Please urge Congress to support H.Res.922 and help us draw attention to the conflict-induced food insecurity affecting so many families. Sincerely,
Farah’s passion for helping others rises from her own past experience as a refugee. Farah supports Mercy Corps’ US Policy and Advocacy team, bringing food security education and awareness to internal teams and external partners.
