Our team has grown so much since we launched this campaign, and following this groundswell of support I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself:
I’m Michele Rayner. I’m a state representative, public defender and civil rights lawyer, and a proud queer Black woman. I’ve dedicated my career to serving our community, and now I’m taking our fight for justice to new heights by running for Congress.
This race won’t be easy, but that’s never discouraged me from doing the right thing for Florida. To win, we’re going to need a strong community of supporters – will you sign on to join us today?
Growing up my dad always told me “Help others. Do the right thing. And most importantly always keep your head up high.” And that’s just what I've done.
When I served as a public defender and civil rights attorney, I fought for those who needed a voice.
As a state representative, I've spoken truth to power and I continue to stand up to Republicans who try to bully us into submission. Because here in Florida, there’s just so much on the line:
When people in our district are working two or three jobs to make ends meet, we need leadership who understands the struggle.
When people in our district depend on social security and Medicare, we need leadership willing to protect these vital social services.
When people in our district are confronted with the devastating effects of climate change, we need leadership ready to take immediate action.
When people in our district are just one hospital bill away from total bankruptcy, we need leadership willing to transform our health care system.
People need someone who just won’t give up. That’s what my family taught me and that’s why I'm running for Congress.
I’m going all in for the people of Pinellas County, John. Not the powerful, not the big corporations, but the people just like you and me.
