John, this month I was glad to have the opportunity to share my advice for the next Mayor of Philadelphia at the AFL-CIO Leadership Conference — watch this short video to hear what I had to say:

In the 90s Philadelphia was facing record levels of homicide and poverty, but we were able to persevere together to resolve these issues. As we once again face similar challenges today, I know that we have the collective power to create change in our city.

This change will start with a Mayor who is ready to put it all on the line to fight for Philadelphia, John.

The next Mayor of Philadelphia needs to have the perspective that no matter how big a challenge may be, they will do everything in their power to overcome an obstacle. Whether it be gun violence, homelessness, poverty, or the impacts of the pandemic, our next Mayor must be ready to meet these issues with bold, actionable solutions.

The Mayor must be willing to work with and for Philadelphia residents not for personal credit, but for the wellbeing of each and every person in our City, especially our most underserved communities.

John, now that I’ve shared my advice for the future Mayor of Philadelphia, I want to hear yours. Will you take a moment today to share your thoughts on what you want to see from the next Mayor of Philadelphia?
