Hi team,
With the retirement of Justice Stephen Breyer, President Biden will make his first nomination to the Supreme Court. Will you stand with Yvette and urge the President to nominate a Black woman to the Supreme Court?
Yvette’s the only Black woman in New York’s entire Congressional delegation, so she knows first-hand the importance of representation. Since the creation of the Supreme Court in 1789, America has had 115 justices – and all but seven of them have been white men. Having a diverse Supreme Court is crucial for promoting a justice system that is fair and serves all Americans, especially as they rule on topics ranging from reproductive justice to voting rights.
We need a justice who comes from – and is committed to – the complete inclusion and empowerment of our country’s growing communities of color. Justice Breyer’s departure now gives President Biden an opportunity to follow through on his promise to appoint the first Black woman ever to serve on the Supreme Court and correct the racial and gender imbalance in one of our country’s most important institutions.
Thank you for your advocacy,
Team Clarke
