We know the public faces of the January 6th Insurrection: Hawley, Boebert, and the rest of The 147.

But privately, shady operators were aiding the insurrectionists and putting together a legal framework to overturn the 2020 election ending our 225 year-old experiment with democracy once and for all. This week, the January 6th Committee has set its sights on the lawyer leading that effort: John Eastman.
 

You may not have heard of Eastman until recently, but rest assured that just over a year ago he was hard at work trying to throw your vote in the garbage. From publishing a repugnant op-ed claiming that Vice President Kamala Harris couldn’t take office because she wasn’t a U.S. citizen (demonstrably false!) to writing a six point legal justification for Trump to remain in office after losing the election, Eastman has constantly used warped legal reasoning to undermine our democracy.

It should come as no surprise that Eastman is now using a dubious “attorney client privilege” claim to try to hide 11,000 emails that were sent around the time of The Insurrection from the January 6th Committee.

Eastman’s playbook is obvious, stonewall Congress until Republicans can retake the House and The 147 take over and bury the truth about The January 6th Insurrection forever.
