Dear Ward 8 Residents:
Over the weekend, I hosted our senior tele-townhall. Hundreds of Ward 8 seniors joined the call to hear vital information and supportive services from government officials, organizations, and subject matter experts.
Commander John Branch (7^th District) and Commander Darnel Robinson (6^th District) from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) started the conversation by addressing questions and concerns around public safety. They shared MPD's plan to make our community safer and noted what seniors would like to see done differently.
Additionally, seniors heard from experts on ways to identify senior abuse, neglect, exploitation, and common fraud schemes threatening seniors.
Officials provided information on community resources, support services for housing assistance and home repairs, estate planning, and so much more.
Estate planning is essential for everyone, no matter their age or wealth. In the coming months, I will host a meeting where residents can learn more about estate planning and create a plan for designating their assets and affairs.
We will continue to find ways to stay connected with our beloved senior community during these unpredictable times. Thank you to everyone that attended this event. Please stay connected with our office for upcoming announcements and events.
Regards,
Councilmember Trayon White, Sr.
