The EU's Top Court Takes a Stand on Rule of Law

In Europe, a long-anticipated showdown over rule of law backsliding in Poland and Hungary reached a critical milestone today. The European Court of Justice rejected the two countries’ objections to a 2020 regulation that allows the European Union to cut some member state funding based on rule of law performance. But is it too little too late?

Mexican Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Case in Netflix Film

On Tuesday, Mexico’s Supreme Court announced it will hear the case at the heart of the gripping Netflix documentary “Reasonable Doubt: A Tale of Two Kidnappings.”  Filmmaker and WJP researcher Roberto Hernandez hopes this will lead to meaningful criminal justice reform in Mexico.  We recently interviewed him about the film’s backstory and how it puts a human face on some startling statistics.
