** Should We Ban Members of Congress From Trading Stocks? ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
Since January, dozens of news articles have included quotes or data from CLC in coverage of congressional stock trading and discussions about whether Congress should pass legislation to limit or fully prevent members of Congress from trading stock. Before that, a poll conducted by CLC revealed that 67% of Americans believe that members of Congress should not be able to trade stocks in specific companies.
The first 10 years of the 2012 Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act proved that stock trading disclosure laws without stock trading restrictions make the problem of congressional insider trading worse, which has sparked widespread discussion of how to update these laws to increase transparency and accountability.
