John,
Just recently, I met with Sandy and Lonnie Phillips, who tragically lost their daughter Jessica in the 2012 Aurora, CO movie theater shooting.
They sought justice and tried to hold irresponsible gun manufacturers accountable, but were ultimately blocked by the misleadingly named Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA).
This law protects gunmakers at the expense of victims, and that's unacceptable. Survivors of gun violence and the families of victims deserve their day in court. It's past time we hold the gun lobby accountable, just as Big Tobacco was held accountable in the 1990s.
But now that the Supreme Court is permitting Sandy Hook families to pursue their lawsuit, we know the gun lobby will ruthlessly retaliate. Can you rush a donation today to help me and my friends at Everytown for Gun Safety continue fighting for common-sense gun violence prevention?

I’ve supported suing the gun manufacturers like many attorneys general did Big Tobacco since I ran for Philadelphia mayor in 1999. I'm also a lead co-sponsor of Congressman Schiff's bill to reopen courthouse doors to victims of gun violence.
After passing vital background check expansions in the House, Senator Casey and I introduced the Resources for Victims of Gun Violence Act to ensure access to the resources, programs, and benefits that can help victims and survivors recover from these all too common tragedies.
Fighters like Sandy and Lonnie Phillips are so incredibly vital. All survivors of gun violence deserve our support, and I hope I can count on you to join me and Everytown for Gun Safety in the fight against the wealthy, corrupt gun lobby. Chip in NOW to help fund our efforts to end the gun violence epidemic once and for all >>
In solidarity,
Dwight
