John,
Valentine's Day may be over, but we can
never get enough of Black Love.
It's just what we do.
This week, let's continue to turn the love up! We're using the
#BlackLoveMatters hashtag to spread Black Love to everyone in our lives.
A part of Black liberation is Black love. Loving our friends, family, and ourselves.
For hundreds of years, Black love has served as a refuge for the ongoing battle for Black liberation. Our kind of love is a unique expression of perseverance and lifting each other up while we navigate the burden of racism through an America that doesn't know how to properly love us back.
#BlackLoveMatters allows us to rediscover Black love in ways only we can truly understand. This love is created by us and for us.
Whether you're writing to yourself, to an ancestor, to a friend, or to a family member – there are so many ways to get creative with this.
Don't forget: When sharing your Black Love Letter, be sure to tag
@blklivesmatter on Instagram and
@blklivesmatter on Twitter and use the hashtag
#BlackLoveMatters!
In (Black) love and solidarity,
