** Arlington County Makes Affordable Housing Gains in Pentagon City

The past few months have been an exciting and eventful time for affordable housing in Arlington. Notably, the County Board voted to approve the visionary Pentagon City Sector Plan. In an unprecedented move, the Plan requires at least 10% of net newly constructed rental units in Pentagon City to be affordable at up to 60% of Area Median Income (AMI) and 10% of owner units affordable up to 80% of AMI, all for a period of 30 years.
AHS sent a letter to the County Board expressing our support for the much-needed plan, which also gives thoughtful consideration to public spaces and tree canopy as well as walkability and bikability. We will continue to provide updates as the process moves forward with specific site plans and opportunities for community engagement.

** County Closes on Loan to Preserve Affordable Homes at the Barcroft Apartments
------------------------------------------------------------
The County Board has provided a $150 million low-interest loan to preserve 1,300+ affordable homes at Arlington's largest market-rate-affordable apartment community. In addition, Amazon is committing $160 million in its own low-rate loan from the from the Amazon Housing Equity Fund to support the preservation. With these critical investments, the purchaser, Jair Lynch, was able to ensure that the Barcroft Apartments will remain affordable to residents earning up to 60% of the area median income ($77,400 for a family of four) for 99 years without displacing current residents.
