After many months of radical organizing and relentless commitment (thanks By The People ([link removed]) for leading the way), democracy is finally having its day.

Trump's right about one thing: this IS a witch hunt. We - all who cast spells of positive change and conjure what's possible beyond this nightmare - are hunting anything and anyone in the way of our thriving.

This is not a time to doubt one's power and sit on the sidelines. Giving into the illusion of powerlessness is what got us into this mess. This is a time for big magic and calling up our most powerful and creative selves to bring forth the future we all deserve.

Prepare yourself by training the mind and fortifying the body so that we can be resilient in our magic.

Call in your coven of community that will have your back and care for the whole.

And believe in a power that is so big it can hold all of us in our courage and conviction.

IMPEACHMENT DAY
That's a wrap ([link removed]) on day one of the public hearings of the impeachment inquiry into Trump. Today, we heard from William Taylor, the top diplomat in Ukraine, and George Kent, a State Department official who oversees U.S. policy for Ukraine, who testified about concerns that Trump had abused the powers of the presidency by making military aid to the Ukraine contingent on a foreign investigation into political rival Joe Biden. In his opening statement, Taylor dropped a bombshell, ([link removed]) suggesting that Trump was very personally involved in what Sondland was telling the Ukrainians. Just tuning in? No worries. DACA AT THE COURT
The Supreme Court heard arguments in three cases yesterday that will determine whether the Trump Administration can end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), an Obama-era program that protects the nearly 1 millions undocumented folx living and working in the US who were brought here as children. Many analysts are focused on the devastating economic impact of ending the program, but it's individuals and families whose lives will be destroyed ([link removed]) if SCOTUS rules in favor of Trump ([link removed]) . It'll be months before a decision comes down, so current and past DACA recipients are urged to renew their status NOW. DEAR WHITE PEOPLE
In Dear White People ([link removed]) , Bayo Akomolafe is challenging white people to stray from the mainstream to the many streams. His call to action is for those of us who are white to remember our indigeneity so that we can stop looking for it in places that aren't ours, to interrogate our whiteness and its construct to understand what's beyond it, to move towards deeper layers of accountability, and to listen and remember all that is sacred. Terminal whiteness is destroying democracy and taking lives. Winning in 2020 requires that we confront state-backed whiteness ([link removed]) and false consciousness so that we can understand how we got here and how we can all get free.

SELF-CARE AS SOCIAL JUSTICE
Audre Lorde said that "self-care is an act of political warfare." But what was once a radical feminist idea has been stripped of its politics ([link removed]) and replaced in dominant culture by "me time." Missouri House Member-Elect Rasheen Aldridge in St. Louis is taking back self-care for the people and introducing a 4-day work week with a bill called The Self-Care Act ([link removed]) . And we can't talk about self-care as social justice without lifting up the work of Sistercare Alliance ([link removed]) !
