History is being made today, John.
Today, the first public impeachment hearings against Donald Trump began.
Here are the facts:
* Trump tried to exploit Ukraine’s vulnerability to Russia and asked
them to interfere in our elections by digging up dirt on his political
opponent, Joe Biden.
* His administration was instructed to withhold military aid, security
assistance, and a meeting at the White House for Ukraine until and
unless the President of Ukraine made a public announcement of
investigations into Biden. Ukraine needed to do Trump "a favor though”
before any check was signed.
* Multiple national security officials reported this abuse of power, but
the White House intervened and tried to sweep these complaints under
the rug.
As the American people hear directly from witnesses and mountains of
corroborating evidence that this president abused his power and corrupted
the office, the Republican party continues to be a Trump-supporting cult
-- they’re trying every trick in the book to obstruct this investigation
and spouting every lie and excuse to defend him.
We will soon find out if Republicans will rise to the occasion and put
country over party by voting to impeach Trump from office.
Either way, DFA will use impeachment against them.
We’ll wedge Senate and House Republicans -- especially Senators in tight
2020 races -- no matter which way they vote. If they vote to convict
Trump, we'll use it against them and depress Republican turnout. If they
vote to acquit Trump, we'll use it against them to drive up Democratic
turnout. We're working to make sure impeachment is the ultimate lose/lose
scenario for Republicans.

Whether through impeachment or the ballot box, Trump and Trump Republicans
