Did you know that nearly half of all Nevada students qualify for federal Pell Grants? Did you also know that it’s been over 10 years since the value of Pell Grants has increased?

That’s why I’m calling on Congress to increase the value of Pell Grants and provide every student a fair shot, but I need 2,500 people to add their name to my petition to join this important fight. Will you be one of them?

For decades, Pell Grants have been the cornerstone of our higher education system, making college more affordable for millions of Americans -- including me.

But with 17% inflation over the last 10 years, it’s no wonder that more and more students are forced to go into debt to afford an education.

I know firsthand what an important role the Pell Grant program plays. These grants help students pay for tuition, books and room and board. They help lift up students from humble beginnings to reach their fullest potential.

But Congress has failed to address the declining value of these grants over time, leaving students who need financial aid to foot increasingly more and more of the cost.

If we’re going to restore the major role Pell Grants have played in allowing students from low-income families to receive the quality education they need, we can’t allow their value to continue to diminish.
