going to be real with you. We need to catch up on our budget in a BIG way.
Let me break it down.

Real Justice has been pushing HARD on all fronts – from directing
donations toward local candidates in Texas, to fighting back against
wealthy opponents who are trying EVERY trick in the book to drain as much
of our time and resources as possible.

That work is grueling. It’s also put us in a very tough situation. Our
budget is hurting. I don’t want any of our big plans for this year to be
at risk.

I don’t want to make any cuts, especially as our opponents are just
POURING big money into undoing everything we’ve worked so hard to
accomplish.

Our plans for this year are CRUCIAL. We’re already seeing a new era of
extreme mass incarceration.

We have fought tooth and nail to get here. We can’t afford to lose any
ground.

Over and over, our elected DAs are prosecuting violent police, freeing
wrongfully incarcerated people (most often Black men), and pioneering
community programs that address the root causes of harm.

Our opponents are fighting us hard because they hate to see a changing
status quo.

There are a lot of people out there who would rather see MORE extreme mass
incarceration and policing.

We know that if they succeed, this will inevitably lead to MORE people
maimed and murdered by police. The math is real.

That’s what we are up against.

So when I say we need to catch up, it is not an exaggeration. It’s not a
trick.

It is the hard truth.

We are trying to save lives here,
John. Through the work our
DA’s are able to do once elected, we have already saved many, but we can
save more.
