Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

Last week, I had a busy few days in Washington, D.C., including several votes in the U.S. House of Representatives! I had a great time discussing my proposed legislation for border security with my colleagues at the Republican Study Committee member lunch. My Republican colleagues and I discussed all that we are doing to fight for our nation.

I was also proud to attend a virtual meeting with Special Olympics Arizona to build awareness for the special programs and educational benefits they offer Arizonans. I have always been a supporter of the Special Olympics and it was great to see them again today.

Back home in Arizona, I also had a great time speaking at the El Dorado Independent Living Facility. I spoke with constituents about recent legislative activity in the House and informed them of what I have been doing to uphold our constitutional freedoms in Congress.

The cost of food, electricity, and rent have surged again! Democrats’ unrestrained borrowing and spending is to blame for inflation spiking to 7.5 percent in January, reaching a four-decade high. As a result of this inflation, your paycheck is worth 7.5 percent less than it was a year ago. From the gas station to the grocery store, these rises in inflation have hit seniors and the working class the hardest. Democrats’ out-of-touch policies have ruined our nation’s economy and are hurting your pocketbooks.

Monica from our office attended a ribbon cutting at Goodcents in Goodyear, Arizona! Goodcents specializes in serving fresh sub sandwiches to its customers.

Austin from our office attended a ribbon cutting for Benehealth Wellness and Aesthetics in Surprise, Arizona. 

Monica from our office attended a ribbon cutting for EmployBridge, which is an industrial staffing company in Glendale, Arizona. 

I was delighted to meet with the Arizona Civil Air Patrol to discuss their operations in our state and their search and rescue capabilities. Thank you for all the great work you do for Arizonans!

I had a fantastic discussion with my Military and Veteran Advisory Board, where we discussed my continued efforts to support veterans and their families in our community.

Casework Highlight

A constituent reached out to our office because his pay for military training was wrongfully being recouped by the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS). The constituent had attempted to correct the problem on several occasions. Our office contacted DFAS and the issue was resolved. The constituent’s pay is now being processed correctly.

Encouraging Story

I am pleased to share this heartwarming story about celebrities, including Michael Phelps and PGA Pro Jason Dufner, coming together to raise over $50,000 for Special Olympics Arizona’s San Tan Ford Putting Challenge. I am proud of everyone who came together to support those who compete in the Special Olympics. I am also proud of the talented athletes who participate in the Special Olympics!
