My January
email
shared with you that I am your animal welfare champion, the story of my
rescue pup Bailey, my advocacy to be the voice for the voiceless and how
I will continue to fight for our companion animals as your Councilwoman.

Several companion pet issues I will champion:

* Regulations and accountability

* Community outreach programs

* Neighborhood Quality of Life

* Community outreach programs

* Neighborhood Quality of Life

Did you know in 2016 the

**Arizona State legislature quashed the efforts** of Tempe, Phoenix, and
Tucson

**to ban pet stores from selling commercially bred dogs** and instead
passed a law which has been incredibly difficult to enforce?

The law allows pet stores to sell puppies if they are licensed, in good
standing with the USDA, and disclosed to customers before a sale. You
only need to input "USDA puppy mill breeders" in your search bar to see
how disingenuous this law is.

Protecting our community and companion animals must involve the city
council, state and federal legislators and our community to participate
in the solution.

Join me on February 19th from 4PM - 6PM for an Animal Advocacy Virtual
Event with my fellow animal advocates and co-hosts, Paul Weich and
Lauren Kuby. Our special guests are Nicole Galvan and Dr. Annette
Bouwer.

* Paul Weich, a Tempe attorney running for the Arizona House of
Representatives (LD18-->LD12)

*   Lauren Kuby, a Tempe City Councilmember running for a seat on the
Arizona Corporation Commission

* Nicole Galvan, the Arizona Team Leader for "Bailing out Benji", an
animal outreach and advocacy group, will explain

**How Arizona Law Protects Puppy Mills.**

* Dr. Annette Bouwer, veterinarian and former Professor of Veterinary
Medicine at Midwestern University, will discuss Canine Diseases specific
to Arizona.

Our hosts and guest speakers will hold a discussion on these important
issues and take questions. We need leaders in state and city government
who will draft legislation and ordinances that will combat mistreatment,
neglect, and abuse of our furry friends.

As your Councilwoman my

**only** priority is working for your families, whether they have two
legs or four.
