Hey friend. I’m Sam, the Redistricting Coordinator at the California Environmental Voters Education Fund. I have some excited news to share with you now that California’s redistricting process is complete:

Our new maps are greener and fairer than the ones we’ve been using for the past decade!

As a reminder, redistricting is the process by which states redraw district lines for federal, state, and local elections for the next whole decade. A goal of the EnviroVoters Ed Fund’s redistricting work is to create districts centered on environmental features like sensitive habitats, public lands and waters, and major pollution sources.

Overall, the 2021 redistricting was a huge win for democracy, for diversity, and for climate action. Major environmental problems and features have been united with the neighborhoods and voters most impacted by them and most committed to their solutions. It's even more of a reason that our lawmakers should be working to solve the climate crisis and addressing environmental inequities in our communities.

We launched a massive effort to ensure these environmental values and climate impacts were considered in the redistricting commission’s process. And our coalition succeeded in ensuring that the communities most impacted by climate change are heard.

We rely on your ongoing support to finance efforts like this. Will you make a tax-deductible donation of $20 or more to support our work for democracy, diversity, and climate action?

Thanks for being with us.
