John,
You know what’s outrageous? The fact that members of Congress can buy and sell stocks while in office and make millions in the market by receiving non-public information by virtue of their positions.
It’s time that stopped. Thanks to our hard work, there's exciting bipartisan momentum on Capitol Hill to stop insider trading by lawmakers. Reps. Spanberger (D-VA) and Roy (R-TX) introduced the TRUST in Congress Act (H.R. 336) in the House, and Sens. Ossoff (D-GA) and Kelly (D-AZ) introduced similar legislation, the Ban Congressional Stock Trading Act (S. 3494), in the Senate. Both of these bills would ban members of Congress and their families from buying and selling stocks while in office.
Can you write to your members of Congress today and tell them to support H.R. 336 and S. 3494 to stop congressional stock trading now?
Americans should have confidence that their elected representatives are working for them, not their own personal stock portfolios. That’s why movement on the Hill to address insider trading is so important.
But we need to turn up the heat and make sure these bills get passed. Let’s end congressional corruption!
Tell Congress to stop congressional stock trading by passing H.R. 336 and S. 3494!
Your voice is crucial,
Ethan Rome
